#nationalkissingday

Looking at what is trending on twitter I discovered it's national kissing day. As I have nobody to kiss I'm spending the day with the dog continuing with my knitting. I'm missing Bournemouth a little bit, not my house, but all the friends I had at the start of the year soooo on my trip up there tomorrow I'll try and see as many people as I can, and continue the Pride Arts trail with Faith.

I'm also wanting to dye my hair lighter again.

I've completed four flowers and whilst doing them contemplating what to knit next. I want to create a headwear collection for when I'm back at uni and can use the studios and my amazing team to shoot them. Thinking about uni I still need to update my website, which I may do now.

Sl1 k'wise Inc1 Inc1 k3

Tonight I picked up my (old) 8 needles and started knitting again. For my Nans 70th Birthday I decided to knit her a bunch of flowers! I'm working on roses at the moment and as I left my double sided needles at home I'm limited on the patterns I can follow.

A couple of weeks ago Nan and I visited the cheap shop to buy some wool, I asked her to pick the colours for a patchwork I wanted to make! Little did she know it was for the flowers! So hopefully she'll love them.

This is the pattern I used for the flower, it was easy to follow and gave a great result! I'll adapt it slightly so the flowers are on wires rather than on a pin.

Basvegas

I was waitressing at the comedy club and some men were complaining about the acts, one of them asked if I could tell a joke, I replied "I can't do that, but I can tell you something funny ... I'm from Essex".

For my final project of the year I decided to do something slightly different to my usual work, I am still unsure if this was a good decision in terms of grade chasing, however it was something I had to do whilst my home is still Essex.

With the images I decided to shoot in several different ways, not leaving enough time to finalise the style, so the series is a little mismatched. I wanted to portray the stereotypical image of the Essex girl, leaving out the identities of the models I used. The work is my response to the publicity from 'The Only Way is Essex' and has been minimally edited. There was a lot of 'fake' fake tan applied to my models who were brilliant throughout. There are several other images I have shot for the project that I will be featuring on my fashion club and under other sections of my website, so watch out for further updates.

Live on BBC Essex Radio

Today I was on the BBC Essex Radio, talking about my fashion club and the Essex Stereotype!! Being interviewed was quite nerve racking, I was asked to come into the studio and if I didn't have an upcoming deadline I would have loved to! We talked about the typical Essex girl, and how it is perceived as 'glamourous' by aspiring wags, and almost a combat against it, through the fashion club and Daphne Field's Ewag Group!

We talked about how fake eyelashes and this ambition to be glamorous was acceptable in the 40s/50s (all eras really), but I don't think it was mentioned enough how it is not the fact we want to look good, rather the associations with the Essex Girl. Women fought hard to earn the right to vote and to aspire to be a footballer's wife by following the stereotype can't be a good thing. There are so many creative and uniquely styled people all over Essex, we should aspire to be creative and successful, and be proud of personal style, rather than living up to this bad image.

On another note, I'm shooting a Vajazzle image for my project tomorrow - we can't take ourselves too seriously!

Land Girls

Yesterday I shot for Aisha, a third year student at AUCB, this part of her project was based on the Land Girls and myself and a lovely team of people went up to a dairy farm to shoot the images! Just posting a quick edit now but I'll write more later!

Tired Starlings Final Series

Just finished editing Emma's fashion series I've blogged about before! I'm pretty happy with the final images! I've got so much to do in 12 days, so I'm trying to get all my editing done in the next few days, and shoot until the cows come home tuesday-friday!
